ati radeon 9600 dvi adapter

I have an Radeon 9600 in a Shuttle xpc AMD 64. When I use the DVI connection to my LCD the display blinks off after a couple of minutes and then periodically blinks on for a second or two. When I use the VGA connection to the same LCD it works fine? Installing ATI vista Catalyst drivers didn't help. Anyone else seen this problem? Had been using DVI connection with XP for 6 months with no problem.

I've an ati 9600 using dvi out and it's fine, at least it is here.
